Some of them have full HD versions, but unfortunately this site doesn't support them here. (It automatically downsizes them.)
- Useful when learning MEL scripting, especially when coming across an unknown command in a pre-existing script; this combines a number of commands such as the 'WhatIs' and 'help' commands as one command. ( eg. [ getInfo("AEswatchDisplayNew") ] or [ getInfo("polyCube") ] or [ getInfo(polyCube1) ] would return: (respectively) (.mel procedure and file location; command, with info options; type polyCube.) )
- For when you're working on a script called myScript_001, and then you want to save it as myScript_002 and work on that one, but still want your button in Maya to source the one you're working on! Rename to sourceLatest (capital L) if necessary. (if in Windows, rename to something else first. MEL script cares about case even though windows (and this website) doesn't.) For studio scripts, using either a coding software that tracks file eg. PyCharm and/or a version control system eg. Git makes this largely unnecessary...
- An autorig (Tested in Maya 2011/2012) for arms and legs, which given a chain of three joints, creates an IK/FK switching rig on them, with the option of inserting bend/twist joints along the bones; - Version 1.0 of the script had a demo screen recording on my 'videos' page; This is version 2.02, which has the addition of a ribbon rig method option for bendy limbs, rather than the previous spline method; which also incorporates automatic tangent bends (eg. bending around the elbow) of adjustable amounts. - To use, rename the file to NJC_limbRig.mel, put it in your Maya scripts folder (eg. ~My Documents\maya\2011\scripts\), open Maya, type NJC_limbRig in the mel command line at the bottom of the screen and drag it to a shelf as a 'MEL' button. ( Released as now that I have worked with scripts in Maya for a bit longer, and having returned to the script after about a year, I see that it is a mess structurally as a script, and in any case it would be cool to see some rigs that use it. Please inform me if you do use it; especially if the rig is given to be used by the public, so that I can use it too :D Commercial use is fine, however I won't be supporting the script (resolving bugs etc.); the cc attribution copyright is just for the code itself. (ie. the code can't be SOLD as, or as part of, a commercial autorigger)) - 24/04/13 - Fixed problems with ribbon joint orientations on mirrored joints. - 05/05/13 - Made rig scalable, made ik pole vector acknowledge elbow preferred angles.
